The Perfect Way to Protect Coloured Hair

Since I was about 11/12 years old I’ve been getting my hair highlighted and occasionally I made those school girl errors by dying it an awful block colour all over. I bet you couldn’t imagine me with black hair? Well yes, that did happen once and I must say, it wasn’t the smartest move I made.

I started off getting my hair highlighted on the odd occasion to dry my hair out a bit. My hair was originally quite oily so my Mum allowed me to have the odd highlights put in. Ever since then, I’ve always had highlights. Whether it be half a head or a full head, it just became part of my hair ritual.

You have to be careful when highlighting or colouring your hair, especially if you’re using bleach. Not only does it damage your hair if you do it too often, it also makes your hair look dry & unhealthy. I love having soft and shiny hair so I sometimes use special hair shine spray once I’ve finished styling it.

So here’s the secret on how to protect coloured hair … Regis have invented a colour protector called ‘Smart Bond’. In a nutshell, the formula helps to protect your hair bonds inside and out when you’re having it coloured. The Smart Bond treatment is mixed in with your hair dye and is applied along with the desired colour. So it’s no different to your usual routine and doesn’t take any longer.

I decided to take the leap and dye my hair grey all over. I’m not going to lie, sitting in the salon chair hearing that it will consist of a scalp bleach did have me worrying a bit. However, it’s something that I’ve wanted to try for a while so I just went with it.

The hairdresser applied the Smart Bond treatment and went ahead with my colour. To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the grey hair colour on me. I’ve always been a true blonde so I didn’t really think it was me. Now that the tint has washed out and faded, I’m back to being bright blonde and I love my hair colour now. But you know, sometimes you just have to try these things.

Regis hair salon also have home treatments for you to use after your salon appointment. They have conditioners which help keep your hair strong and healthy. Using the Smart Bond certainly makes a difference to coloured hair. It’s very affordable and reassured me when knowing I was having my hair coloured yet again. For the sake of a few more pounds, I would rather know that my hair will remain in good condition after the appointment.

Now that I’ve had my hair coloured a few times in the past couple of months, I feel more incline to protect my hair now more than ever. To keep up with the Smart Bond treatment, I’ve also been using a hair mask which helps to nourish and condition my hair. I often apply this overnight or even throughout the whole day depending on what my plans are.

If you book in for an appointment with Regis hair salon then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me and let me know your thoughts on their new treatment :)

Being Inside a Volcano

Today was pretty extraordinary for me and Sam as we went exploring inside a volcano. Just your average Sunday right?

Me & Sam are currently away on holiday in Lanzarote (home to many volcanos). The deal was, if I went with Sam to watch him play golf, he would come and do something that I wanted to do. We thought that was pretty fair. So I wanted to explore and venture around a volcano.

For my GCSE's at school I took Geography as I'm so intrigued by the world we live in and how certain land features have been formed. As you can probably guess, my favourite topic in Geography was landforms and natural disasters. I'm so fascinated by things like that so going to visit a volcano was unquestionable from my point of view.

Going to Parque Nacional De Timanfaya was in the diary for our holiday however we didn't realise we would have been doing it today and so spontaneously. Our day started by going to a market in Teguise. On the way home we thought we'd only 'pass by' the volcanos and mountains to see what the views were like. Little did we know we would be parking up to go on a coach around the highest peaks and literally scaring ourselves to death!

We drove up to a main gate where we purchased two tickets for the tour. Sam then carried on driving up the side of the mountain to reach the meeting point and restaurant (at the time I thought this was the scariest part). We then boarded the coach and set off down one of the mountains. So far so good. The coach continued to drive up and down around winding roads occasionally stopping for us to take some photos. As Sam had the window seat, he kept pointing out to me how close we were to the side of the cliff ... I don't know how far down it was but it was a huge drop!! In the end I think he was scaring himself so he stopped showing me haha.

We were getting higher and higher to the point where I was questioning how on earth is this man driving a coach of 20+ people up such a steep hill?! By this point, me and Sam were pretty scared. The coach driver then pulled over and stopped for us to have a look inside one of the craters. We were honestly speechless and amazed at how this has formed on earth. Inside the crater was red & orange stones and rocks. It's unbelievable to think we were inside something that was once a red hot danger zone!

Driving back to the restaurant, we passed fields and mountains covered in ash from the eruption. We often passed some caves and craters where you could see such fine detail of where the lava had be dripping.

When we got back to the restaurant, I literally wanted to thank this driver for getting us back safely. What an amazing yet extremely scary job he has! As well as taking photos, I also videoed the experience which will be part of my travel holiday vlog. All going to plan, I should have this live on my YouTube channel within the next two weeks.

If you want to know a bit more about how Volcanos erupt then continue reading:

Before I studied Geography for GCSE, I just thought that a volcano eruption was caused by some sort of lava explosion when in fact, it's all to do with what lies beneath the earth.

To keep it short and sweet, I've attached a photo for me to explain. Volcanos erupt when the plate beneath the ocean moves and disturbs the volcano. Parts of the oceans crust burns below to form magma. When the oceans plate moves, it causes magma to rise inside the volcano and explode. This is when the magma turns into lava.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our experience today. Don't forget to stay tuned to my YouTube channel to watch my travel vlog which will include footage from our adventure.

An Essential Product for Fake Tanners

Hey guys,

Firstly, I just wanted to say that I've nearly had 100k views on my blog since it all began which is crazy! I would love if I could hit that number by the end of this week so please share my blog and posts with your friends and family and help me get there :)

Yesterday morning I went to breakfast with Bondi Sands & met the girls at Tower Hill, London. They have recently launched a new product called the 'Self Tan Remover'. Let me tell you know that it's going to be a game changer. The product is the worlds first self tan remover and I know it's only going to get better.

So girls, who enjoys exfoliating? Who enjoys scrubbing fake tan off in the shower when it starts to go patchy? Definitely not me! I avoid this chore at all costs. I met up with the girls from Bondi and told them how much I hated exfoliating to the point where the other day I just applied another layer of fake tan over my old one. Needless to say it didn't have the best effect.

The 'Self Tan Remover' is basically a foam based moisturiser/cleanser which removes your tan for you in the shower. Amazing right?

So here's how it works;

1) You start by rubbing the foam all over your body or in some cases, the areas you have fake tanned
2) Leave it to settle into your skin for 5 minutes
3) Jump in the shower and watch your old & patchy fake tan come off
4) Re-apply your new fake tan & you're good to go

I tried out the product today and in all fairness, I think it's a step in the right direction. Considering it's the first type of self tan remover, it did a good job. I wouldn't say that my tan came off straight away, I still had to rub myself down slightly. However it did make the job a whole lot easier and I'll definitely be using it again!

Just to let you know, this doesn't just work for Bondi Sands fake tan. The company have tested it with various fake tan brands and it still had the same effect. If you have any questions or would love to find out more about the product, drop me a message on Twitter @BatesRobyn4

Lots of love,

Robyn xxx
