The Stories of Marbella

Well, where do I start with telling you all about my recent girly holiday to Marbella? I'll try to cut it short/er ...

Me and two of my girlfriends have just come back from an amazing week in Marbella, Spain. Not so relaxing, but what would you expect?! After all, we knew we would be spending the majority of our holiday at pool parties and in night clubs. I'm more of a daytime-pool party girl myself.

I haven't been home a week yet and I'm already having those holiday blues. Throughout the holiday, I was forever posting on my social - taking full advantage of all the content it was giving me! If you missed it, then take a look below at what we got up to;

Plaza Beach
We booked to go to this pool party twice within the week; once to chill out and socialise with a few cocktails, the other for a pool party, a foam party that is. This was the first place we went to on our holiday and we had the intention of relaxing, listening to music and trying to catch a sun tan. I say tan, I burnt. It was also the last pool party we went to whilst in Marbella. We had a few too many drinks and a thousand of funny memories were made. All part of a girly holiday!

Sisu Boutique
This is the place to go. I don't know anyone as of yet to go to Marbella and not go to Sisu for the day. The pool party was nonstop, people were jumping in the pool - I was one of those people. When I'm away, I don't like to take myself too seriously, after all, life is far too short to go a day without laughing! The small swimming pools were heaving and the atmosphere was insane. Not to mention I must of been sprayed with champagne a good few times.

Chris Brown
Oh my god, where do I even start?! So if you missed the whole story on my snapchat, then I'll tell you all about it now! We were about to leave Sisu Boutique and out of nowhere, my friends turn round to me and say, Robyn you have to keep it cool. I was puzzled to then find out that we were all on our way to Chris Brown's hotel room. Random I know?! As we stood outside, his tour manager made us all hand over our phones so that Chris Brown could have his own privacy. As we walked in, it looked like a typical American music video, I loved it! There were girls in the hot tub, girls outside on the sunbeds, people all sitting around chatting and eating a whole load of room service! It was unbelievable. Oh and yes, I'm a huge Chris Brown fan so it pretty much made my holiday. After talking to him for a while it was time for us to go as he was performing at Cavalli Club that night. I had to save myself from the drowned rat look! If I knew I would be meeting Chris Brown that day, I would of not been jumping in the pool all day!!! So when we said goodbye, I managed to bag myself a hug from him ;) Since I've been home, I found out that T-Pain was also in the room with us too! How crazy is that?!

Ocean Beach Club
I got it all wrong. There's me thinking that we would be up dancing and drinking throughout the day. It was so chilled! To the point where me and my one of my friends actually fell asleep on the sunbed. Probably just catching up on some sleep and maybe because we went on a week day. I've heard that there's a lot going on over the weekend, like with anywhere really. So that's on the list for next year!

Attempting to Relax
The last day we planned to go back to Sisu Boutique but I think Marbella got the best of us. 4/5 hours sleep each night wasn't the best for us so we just decided to have a relaxing day around our swimming pool. Not quite the Sisu one, but it was good enough. It's just what we needed considering we were flying home that night.

That just sums up a bit our holiday to Marbella, Spain. What a week it was! I feel like I need another holiday now to get over that one haha. I laughed the whole week, I'm so grateful to have a group of girls like them!

Working Away from Home | Milan

Throughout the months of June & July, I've been fortune enough to be able to travel and work at the same time. I'm sure we all go through busy periods in our jobs where we're literally up to our eyes in it. Well the past two months have been the busiest for me so it was nice to take a few days out of the office and to enjoy the modern city of Milan.

I have the luxury of being able to work with very high end brands which is absolutely amazing and I wouldn't change my job for the world right now. I feel like I've found something I love and being so involved in the buying department recently has just made me even more grateful.

So yes, a few weeks back I flew out to Milan to buy Gucci and Moncler for SS17 at Base. They do so well to keep their brands prestige I completely admire them for that. Just to fill you in, these brands cannot be bought anywhere else in the world. They only have a 2 week selling period which means all of their customers have to fly within this time frame to Milan to buy the collection! Crazy isn't it?

Gucci Appointment
My alarm was set at 4am and I couldn't wait to see what the day would bring. By 6am I arrived at the airport and by 8am I was on the plane to Milan for my second business trip this year. Me and the other buyer arrived at our hotel and quickly had to get ourselves ready for the appointment which was booked for 2pm the same day - yes it was a very long, but exciting, day!

When we turned up at Gucci, I literally felt like I was in a detention of some sort, I couldn't believe the atmosphere! There were security guards lined up around the huge showroom and the women were all dressed in black suits with slick back hair. I mean, it was so Gucci!

Because they only sell this collection for two weeks, the hall was lined up with tables everywhere. Just walking to our seat made me feel like I was on a catwalk or something as everyone just had their eyes on each other!

As we buy so much of Gucci, it took us up until 7pm when we were literally kicked out of the showroom! But I'm pleased to say that we certainly got the job done and what we've bought will be coming into stores the start of next year.

Dining Along The Canal
Once we finished up at the appointment, we jumped in a taxi and headed out for some dinner. Wow, it was the most amazing setting to finish off a long day, sitting next to the canal watching the sunset go down. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Moncler Appointment
The next day we were booked in for an appointment with Moncler, likewise to buy a collection for SS17. This was a bit more relaxed which was well needed after the day before. We set ourselves the goal to be out of there by 3pm as we had a flight to catch at 6pm. Come 4:30pm and we were still there! We rushed to get the final styles placed on our order and jumped in a taxi.

Of course there would be traffic as well! We finally arrived at the station around 5:30pm which only left us half hour to get through passport control and security. Stressful right? But we did it!

Flying Home
I was gutted for the business trips to be over as I had the amazing opportunity of being able to explore Italy for the first time! Both cities were amazing and I cannot wait to go back in 6 months time when we have to buy for the next season.

I know I touched upon it in my previous Working Away from Home blog post, but I am extremely grateful to have been flown out to Italy twice in the space of a month. Long may the hard work continue!

Working Away from Home | Florence

As some of you may know, I've been working away from home quite a lot recently & it's all thanks to Base Childrenswear!

I'll tell you a little bit about my background there as I often get asked how I became a buyer and what were my previous experiences. I've been working for Base for about 4 years now - where has that time gone?! - I actually started off working in the stores just as my part time job whilst I was studying at the FRA. I worked between 3 stores and as I always found myself covering for people or filling in a space during the busy seasons.

When I graduated from college last year, I was asked to go to Base head office for a full-time job there. Of course I was delighted as I could start earning a decent wage! So this is where you may be shocked ... I started off working in the warehouse. Unloading lorries, carrying cardboard boxes and arranging the deliveries for stores. I then went onto the online and dispatch department just to help out over christmas because as you can imagine, it was soo busy! Then in January I was asked to become the Assistant Buyer and I couldn't be any happier now!

So that leads me onto telling you all about my first business trip away with Base Childrenswear!

Just to fill you in, Base is a company which sells designer childrenswear clothing. So we stock brands such as Moncler, Gucci, Versace and many many more! Needless to say that I can fit into some of the girls clothes - A whole lot cheaper than the adults!

As a buyer, you'll always find yourself going to trade shows or looking around at what your competitors are doing. In the designer childrenswear industry, The Pitti Exhibition is a done thing! It's held in Florence every 6 months and it's where a lot of brands and companies come together to create new relationships and business for each other.

We flew out there about 2 weeks back on the Wednesday evening and arrived at hotel early hours of the morning. Around 9am we - myself, another buyer and the owner of Base - went onto the exhibition. I cannot explain how hot it was out there too! 35 degrees was surely good enough for me!

The whole day revolved around going into different stalls and seeing what each collection was all about. In the past I went to a trade show which literally had nothing on this! The whole exhibition was decorated throughout and represented each brand's identity so well!

We picked up plenty of new contacts which we will contact regarding their SS17 collection so make sure you keep a look out for those!

After the exhibition, we headed back to our rooms to freshen up for dinner - well not me as such - I stayed out and walked around the City of Florence snapping away on my camera. After all, it was my first business trip, I had never been to Italy before and wanted to see what it was all about. Considering we stayed so close to the Piazza Del Duomo, I had to go and have a look around the cathedral as it's a huge landmark in Florence.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to eat a real Italian pizza! People who know me will know that pizza is literally my life, I don't know what I would do without it! So of course we went to an Italian al fresco restaurant which looked over the square - so cute

The guys then took me to see Ponte Vecchio. I literally had no words. The most stunning landmark I had seen! I told Sam I would have to take him there as it's so romantic especially when the sun is setting. Ponte Vecchio is a bridge in Italy which is famous for having the best jewellery shops all lined up. There were guitarists and men singing on the bridge with a few couples just dancing in front of them - Such an amazing atmosphere - I can't wait to go back already

Building contacts and relationships is always good as we were then invited to one of our brands 25th birthday! - could this trip get any better?! - It was situated in a rooftop terrace which overlooked the City of Florence and Ponte Vecchio. After having a few drinks, we then went back to our hotel as we had to prepare for a flight home the next day.

I can't begin to explain how grateful I am to have been on my first business trip at the age of 19! Florence was the most amazing city with so much character and history behind it. I'm sure, when people go there for a holiday there's so much to do! Maybe one day I'll be able to experience that side of Florence.

The following week I flew out to Milan for two meetings with very top end brands. Make sure you keep a look out for it as I'll be posting a blog about it soon!

Our Travel Diary of Spain

This blog has seriously been a long time coming! I apologise in advance that I haven't posted it sooner ... but I've finally gathered up all of our photos to share with you!

Me and Sam literally booked our holiday 5 days before we went so talk about panic packing! There was no time to get new outfits so we just went with what we already had.

We booked to stay in Costa Brava for the whole duration but then we mixed it up a bit .. On the second from last day, I mentioned to Sam about going back to Barcelona and staying there for a night. So that's what we did!

We only had 4 days because of football duties and my buying season so we decided to make the most of it. We were up at 6am every morning and squeezed in at least two activities a day, so yes it wasn't that much of a relaxing holiday haha,

But we can honestly say we watched the sun come up and go down which was defiantly worth it!

Here are just a few of our holiday snaps & don't forget to check out my Vlog's right at the bottom of this post! :)

The perfect instagram-able palm tree!

You're never too old for a water park ;)
