Shangri La Hotel - The Shard

Well where do I begin? ...

When I say, I was speechless walking into this room, I literally mean it! I've never been so blown away by a bedroom & bathroom view before!

Friday night me and Sam booked up to stay in the Shangri La Hotel at The Shard. It wasn't until a few weeks ago I even knew it existed! Sam was digging down Instagram one day and came across it. We have wanted to go since then but couldn't really justify spending that much money for no reason. But then we found one!

Nothing huge but on Friday it was our 1 year and a half anniversary - good enough? So we booked one nights stay and wow it was insane!

As soon as we arrived at the Shangri La Hotel, we were shown to the reception area to check in - which was on the 30th floor! We were then taken up to the 45th floor where our room was. The women told us that she had booked this particular room as she wanted to make it extra special and not every room had it! - She kept us waiting to find out what it was

She stood at the door with us and handed us the key, Sam - of course - ran straight in to see what it was all about. We had the most amazing view over looking Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and Canary Wharf. She then told us to take a look in the next room so find out what was so special!

A bath against the window overlooking the whole of London!!!

Everything else was just a dream, even down to having a sky pool which was on the 52nd floor!

Of course the Shangri La Hotel is the best I've stayed in to date! I would hugely suggest going if you're planning on having a special occasion as it's certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity!

From The Shard, we then got a train straight to Gatwick airport to continue our travels onto Barcelona - which will be my next blog post so make sure you keep an eye out!

Monday's Post | Keeping Updated on our Travels

Good morning guys,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I know I have as I've been in Spain since Saturday! Such a last minute thing as me and Sam only decided to book it about a week ago! We're that kind of couple when it comes to holidays - spur of the moment kinda thing

I'm sat here on my balcony over looking the sea as I'm writing up this blog post, I guess you could say I've had better Monday's ...

The weather has been AMAZING so yesterday me & Sam decided to go to Water World just along the coast of Spain. As we're only here for a few days, we spent our morning/afternoon there then went onto Calella to soak up some sun along the beach - we have to get the best tan we can!

Talk about spare of the moment couple, last night we decided to book a hotel in Barcelona just to spend the night there. Considering we're so close, we just had to!

If you want to see what we're up to today, then make sure you follow me on my Snapchat - batesrobyn - & Just to let you know, we have a few good plans up our sleeves ...

The Royal Ascot

This week I was invited to a day out at The Royal Ascot Horse Racing with the rest of the team at Base Childrenswear. Surely that's a work perk right?!

On Tuesday, we all jumped on the mini bus from work with huge boxes of croissants, bags of crisps and a whole load of alcohol! Needless to say we all had our first drink by 10am ... you can see where this is heading, can't you?

I've wanted to go Royal Ascot for a few years now but never actually got round to booking it. So you can imagine, I was over the moon when I found out we were all being treated to a day out at the races!

And going onto betting ... betting?! I can honestly say that I will never be a professional gambler as I clearly found that out this week! - I just have no idea - And for another treat (more?!) we were all given free betting vouchers. In the beginning I thought I had the whole technique down to a tea. I was looking through the programme, checking all of the odds, their results on past races ... So you get the gist, I thought I knew it all! Turns out I completely lost both bets and that was the end of that :)

I have now learnt that I'm terrible at betting and I should just stick to the daytime job :)

These are just a few pics I took of the AMAZING (despite the weather) day out!

Monday's Post | From The Shard to Barcelona

Last weekend was full of surprises and I cannot wait to fill you in about what's going on!

Friday night I turned up to Sam's house to find out that he's booked for us to stay in The Shard Hotel -  Shangri La Hotel - this Friday! We've been talking about doing it for a while now and thought it's the perfect opportunity to book this weekend as it will be exactly a year and a half since we've been together. That's a good enough excuse isn't it?

Not only that ...

Sunday evening I had a well needed clear out of my room and then found out that Sam had text my boss to arrange for me to have a few days off work next week!! He then followed by telling me that he's booked for us to have a few days this weekend in Barcelona!

God he's good!

So yes, this weekend is going to be very jam packed with hotels, flights and a whole load of sunbathing!

Make sure you follow me on my Snapchat - batesrobyn - so that you don't miss what we get up to!

The Importance of Networking

Until now, I haven't had much contact with other bloggers that are at the same stage as me blogging wise. Don't get me wrong, I have spoken to bloggers - here and there - but nothing too major.

I haven't been posting as much on my blog recently as I've been taking a step back from it and trying to work out what I can improve on. Yes you guessed it ... networking was one of them!

This week I branched out a bit more and yesterday I met up with @aoifecooksey and @sammiesefer. Two girls I feel like I have so much in common with and cannot wait to get to know them more! We spent the day walking around London doing ya'no, usual girly things ...

Like I said, recently I've learnt how important networking is and why it's a necessity with having your own blog. If you're wondering why, take a look below;

Building Relationships
Who would ever turn down the chance and opportunity to make new friends? Certainly not me! I've always loved speaking to new people and building relationships, as the saying goes - the more the merrier! I can't explain how much fun I had yesterday socialising about something we all have in common. Out of the blogging world, not many people know what goes on and how much detail there is to it. So having someone else to talk to about it is key!

Helping Hand
It's always good to help others out and give them a few tips if they feel like they're lacking something. Not that I ever give things to receive, but it's always good to know that someone will be there for you if you ever need advise. After all, that's what friends are for and we're here to help each other out right?

Inspiration
I'm always getting inspiration and admiring other bloggers for coming up with new creative content and images. I would never dream of copying someone no matter how much I loved their idea. Instead I love taking inspiration and creating something that's true to me, something that I can relate to and that suits my style. It's always easier to inspire your friends when you know them!

The real beauty of blogging is being able to meet new people that you can call friends. Bloggers I have spoken to so far have all been so friendly. I cannot wait to meet more and start building relationships with them!

Live Rich, Die Poor

I'm loving all of those slogan tee's out there now especially this one from Miss Guided! It's such a cool slogan and very on trend.

In general, sometimes I find that a few slogan tee's are quite masculine so I always have to watch what I wear them with. That's where the heels come in ... I created this combo and topped it off with my all essential heels from Public Desire.

I also added my casual checked shirt around my waist so that it brought in a bit of colour to the outfit.

If you're looking for a more of a day time outfit, then exchange the heels for some sneakers. Just to let you know, this is my favourite outfit right now, I have to stop myself from putting this on when I jump to my wardrobe!

May's Monthly Archive

A round-up and conclusion of this months blog posts ...

The majority of this month has revolved around fashion posts, touring the streets of London and finding new locations to work with. I don't think many people realise how interesting and photogenic the back streets of London are until you're searching for neutral, grey or white backgrounds.

For the past two (ish) years, I've got to learn the rough layout of London but since blogging, I'm finding all the nooks and crannies and under-rated landmarks that the city has to offer.

Not to mention my biggest and most personal blog post this month - Hypnotherapy. Something that I feel is changing my lifestyle already. Since my session, I have tried so many different meals and learnt how to cook a whole lot better! (Or just cook in general) I've always been use to microwave or quick oven meals, so I'm really enjoying the whole process of cooking and presenting new meals.

Oh and I bought myself a Vegetarian cook book. So I'll let you know how that goes down ...

You can see more from my monthly topics in my archive :)

Thank you all for stopping by and reading my blog last month!
