Saturday's Catch Up

Hey everyone, happy Saturday! I hope you're having a great weekend so far. I'm really excited to share this new blog post with you guys as I've been a bit more creative recently with my posts and couldn't wait to show you what I've put together. When I was studying at the FRA, I had a few classes where we were taught how to put magazines together and had to create our own layouts so I love being able to do that now through my blog.

I've had a pretty crazy week at work so I apologise for not having many posts up recently. We've been working on our new season launches and presentations so I've been getting home quite late and haven't been able to catch up on everything until now. Most nights I was getting home around 9/10pm so I was having my dinner quickly before going to bed and waking up at 5am the following morning. Today, it's been quite nice to relax, catch up and get myself back into the swing of things.

Last weekend, I took my Mum to London with me to shoot lots of new content for my blog which I'm so excited to share with you all. I've also been working on new YouTube videos too and if you'd like to catch up on the latest videos be sure to check them out here

I hope you've all had a great week and enjoy the rest of your weekend and as ever, thanks for stopping by!

Enhancing your Summer Tan with Bali Body

This summer has been the best one yet for weather and I’m hoping it’s going to stick around for a while longer. Because of that, I’m still wearing summer dresses and skirts so keeping up with my tan is essential. For the past few weeks I’ve been using Bali Body products and they certainly live up to their reputation. The brands co-founder and director, Laura Foley, was inspired to create products that would help heal skin conditions like Eczema and found that the best ingredients came from natural plants and seed based oils. Because of this, their brand heavily invest their creations and development into ensuring that the skin is well hydrated whilst trying to catch a tan.

The reason I’ve chosen Bali Body over any other tanning product is because I’ve seen them about for years now. Every summer my Instagram feed is full of people using Bali Body whilst on holiday so I wanted to see what the hype was all about. Bali Body offer a variety of products including sunscreen, tanning oil, moisturising lotion plus many more. At first I thought it was purely tanning oil but was amazed to find plenty more items on their website. I wish I had them before my holiday's to Greece and Paris.

Whilst I was on their website, I decided to create you guys a top pick list of my favourite items which I’ve included above and below. However my top 2 items have to be The Cacao and Watermelon tanning oils. The Cacao contains the perfect mix of ingredients which can be found in all their products. However, this one also contains organic cacao oil which helps to create an instant glow on your skin. This is the option I would go for if I felt on the pale side and wanted to notice a slight tan straight away. The second option I went for was the watermelon as it contains organic oils which help to nourish and replenish skin. This is a great option for those who may suffer with dry skin as it helps to hydrate the skin and also stimulates the production of Melanin which helps us tan.

10 Ways to Make You Feel Good

Some times we have our down days and our moods can be influenced by other people or things that have happened. If you're having a tough day today, then I just wanted to share a few little things with you to hopefully pick you up and put a smile on your face.

1. Remember to smile. Always keep a smile on your face, be brave and know that this is just a little phase and it will all be over soon.

2. Complete at least 3 chores per day. I know this one may not sound very convincing, but over time it will make you feel a lot better. There's some jobs that I would love to avoid, but spreading them out to doing just 3 of them a day, makes everything easier.

3. It's okay to not know where you're at in life. Sometimes we get a bit stuck with things and may find ourself getting comfortable in situations. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's always good to mix things up every now and then to keep things fresh. If you don't know where you're at, maybe think about taking a different route.

4. Never give up. Things that come easy, aren't worth having. Things that are worth having, won't come easy. Never give up on your dreams no matter what people say or do. If you have the drive and fight to get the result you want, then don't give up until you've got there.

5. Make a list of things that make you unhappy. Take a few minutes out of your day to write down the things that make you unhappy. Then go through them one by one and try your best to change them. It may not change over night, but you've made a start by identifying what's wrong so now, all you need to do is work on them.

6. Don't compare yourself. As my Mum always use to say to me when I was growing up, 'be an individual'. Don't follow the crowd, you are your own person and that's what everyone loves about you.

7. Write down 3 things that you're thankful for in life. It may be your family, your partner, your friends or even the fact that you're thankful for your home and some of your assets. Think about the smallest things in life that make you happy and that will put everything into perspective.

8. Forgive yourself. Everyone makes mistakes and nobody is perfect. Learn to forgive yourself on things you may have done wrong in the past. As long as you've learnt your lesson, that's what life is all about. Learn to forgive yourself and appreciate where you are now.

9. Be patient. Everything takes time, some longer than others. Learn to be patient in life as good things are on their way. When you get what you were looking for, you'll appreciate it 10 times more.

10. After the rain, comes a rainbow. Sometimes things may seem like they're the end of the world. But this is just a little challenge that life is throwing at you just to see how you handle it. And that's something in itself; it's not the issue, it's how you approach it.

I hope this has helped to brighten up your day.

Travel Diaries: Disneyland Paris

click to shop
Hey everyone. I hope you’re all well and having a lovely weekend. What with everything going on recently in my monthly update post, I haven’t managed to get round to putting this Disneyland one together until now. For years I’ve been wanting to go to Disneyland Paris again, I went when I was very young and didn’t remember much. It was coming up to my Grandma’s 70th birthday and it’s somewhere she’s always wanted to go with her family. So with that, all 16 of us set off to Disneyland Paris for a long weekend.

We jumped on the train at Ebsfleet and arrived in Paris within a few hours. We were staying at The Disneyland Hotel located inside the park so we made our way there to check in and off load our suitcases. The Disneyland Hotel was literally a dream! It must of only been 1/4 of a mile away from the iconic pink princess castle and had the most amazing view over the park! Inside, it was everything I expected. Throughout my childhood I watched a number of Disney films and it was the traditional decor that I was use to seeing on the TV. Oh and they also had the best hot chocolate stashed away in our rooms.

Once we unpacked, we made our way into the park and went on a few rides. As we were staying in The Disneyland Hotel, we were given 1 free fast pass each a day so we took full advantage of using these throughout the different parks. Quite a few of the adults in my family weren’t interested in going on the rides which mean’t we had multiple gos on our favourite ones. After exploring the parks, we headed back towards our hotel to get ready for the Wild West Show in the evening. When I came to Disneyland all those years ago, I remember going to this show with my Mum and Dad so it brought back a few memories when we walked in.

After the show, we then went back into the parks as they close quite late in the evening so we had the chance to use up the remaining fast passes for the day. We decided to take my Grandma & Grandad on a ride called ‘Thunder Mountain’ which none of us knew what to expect. My Grandma had a disability pass which entitled her to take up to 5 people on a ride so the majority of us managed to get on the rollercoaster. Well the whole way round I was in hysterics - I kept having visions of my Grandma and Grandad being on that Specsavers advert so it was a standing joke throughout the whole holiday and we got the most amazing photo of them both mid-ride which will forever be a talking point for years to come. We then went to watch the fireworks which is something I’ve always wanted to do. It was pretty emotional, I’ve never seen anything like it.

The next day, we all met for breakfast in our hotel and then went into the park. Being a resident at a Disneyland hotel, you automatically receive entry an hour before general admission so that gave us the chance to run around the place before going onto the ‘Little People’ ride. When my Grandma went to Disneyland Florida that was her favourite ride so we wanted to make sure she went on it again in Paris. This ride was a big thing. For years my Grandma had wanted to take all of the family away to Disneyland Florida to go on this ride but because of her MS (Multiple Sclerosis), we decided to go to Paris instead as it would be of been easier and less stressful for her. Everyone knew how much this ride meant to my Grandma and how much she wanted to share this experience with her whole family so it was quite emotional.

We spent the day going on all of the rides and going back and forth through the different parks before going back to our hotel to get ready for dinner. We’d booked to go to one of the restaurants in our hotel for our special a la carte dinner. We had the perfect setting as our dining area looked out over on the pink Disney castle and we watched the sunset behind it whilst eating. After dinner, we headed back into the park for one last ride before watching the fireworks again. We went on the Buzz Lightyear ride which was hilarious. You all go around in little cars having to shoot the dots all over the walls with your laser gun. Is this where I can also mention that I won? ;) After that, we watched the fireworks again which was just as amazing the second time round. It’s one of those things that you can never get bored of, it’s so spectacular and moving that you could just watch it over and over again.

My Aunt, Uncle and 3 of my cousins were heading home first thing that morning so we said our goodbyes the night before and went for breakfast. We then spent the day going around the parks again and on all of the different rides. The parks were very big but we were lucky enough to go on near enough every ride. My favourite being the Aerosmith rollercoaster in the Walt Disney Studios park! If you go to Disney, I definitely recommend going on this ride as we were continuously queuing back up to go on it and used the majority of our fast passes on just this one ride.

After the rides, we went back to our hotel to get ready for dinner at the Walts restaurant. When I came to Disneyland, I must have been about 5 or 6 and remember going to this restaurant with my Mum and Dad. I don’t know whether they still do it, but we went here for breakfast where all of the Disney characters came around and had food with you and it was the best time to grab all of their autographs. So going back to the Walts restaurant nearly 15 years later was amazing. We sat down to have our a la carte dinner and it was exactly how I remembered it being. After dinner, we went back into the park to go on a few more rides and then stayed to watch the fireworks. This time, we were right at the front and it was literally the best view!

This was our last day at Disneyland Paris and I was gutted to be leaving as I’d had the most amazing and unforgettable experience. We had our last breakfast in The Disneyland Hotel and then went back into the parks for our last few rides. It was in the afternoon that our train was booked to take us back to Ebsfleet so we all packed up and walked to the station to jump on the Eurostar.

I’m so grateful to have experiences like this and to live them with my family. If you’d like to read more of my travel blog posts, be sure to check them out here.

This Months Catch Up

So where do I even start? What a whirlwind month I’ve had. You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit distant for the past few weeks and maybe you saw my Instagram Disneyland photo captioned ’I’ve had a few personal issues going on’. Since then, I’ve had so many of you lovely people asking me what’s going on and if I’m okay so I’ve decided to do a blog post about everything that’s been happening.

I’ve never spoken much about my other working life on my blog so some of you may assume that I just blog full time. In fact, I quite like the healthy balance between working for a company and working for myself. I like to live a busy life and am constantly on the go so this routine has always worked out well for me. With that being said, a few weeks ago I left my job which I’d been at for 6 years to progress onto bigger and better things. Over those years, I’ve made such an amazing bond with everyone and it was quite upsetting to say goodbye.

I then took a week off and went to Disneyland Paris with my family which was amazing and you can read all about it here. I’m going to be playing catch up for a while but please bare with me because I can’t wait to show you all of the photos I took whilst I was there.

When I got back from Disneyland, the day after I started my new job as a Buyers Admin Assistant working for Tommy Hilfiger & Calvin Klein. If you’ve followed my journey from the start, you’ll know that buying has been such a big interest of mine and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Before I even knew that blogging existed and when I was back in senior school, all I wanted to be when I grew up was a buyer. That’s the reason I went to The Fashion Retail Academy to learn all about buying and the industry. As you can imagine, the past few weeks have been a bit crazy as I’m trying to learn all of the new systems and to get to know everyone but so far so good and I’m absolutely loving it!

5 Of My Favourite Things to do When I'm Not Working

I rarely take time away from work as I love what I do and always want to create new ideas and lots of new content. With blogging, it's pretty much a 24/7 job and that's why you have to have a real passion for the industry and daily tasks. I often get moaned at by my Mum and Sam to 'take a break' as I'm always on the go and struggle to take time out of what I'm doing. Anyway, when I do take time out, here's a few things I love to do.

Spending time with my friends and family. They're probably the main reason for why I do take time out from blogging and I always appreciate the time I spend with them. Me and the girls often go out every other weekend and I always see Sam throughout the week. 3 Years down and we still love our date nights together, going out for dinner, shopping, or any other activities we decide to book along the way.

Organising myself and work tasks. I love keeping organised and staying on top of what I'm doing. When I'm working, I often find myself finishing something and jumping straight onto the next task. I use my time out as a way of checking off all the weekly tasks I've completed and marking ones that I'm going to catch up on the following week.

Going to the gym and working out. The gym is a good place for me to just forget everything and become stress free. I use this time to catch up on my TV episodes which I mentioned in my '5 Things I'm Loving This May' and just forget about work and the tasks I still need to complete. This is my time and I love keeping fit and attending classes at least 4/5 times a week.

Taking photos. Okay so maybe this counts as working ... but it's such a passion I have that it never feels like work. Since I was 13/14, I've always enjoyed taking photos in my spare time and I still love taking my camera out with me everywhere I go.

Pampering myself. Who doesn't love a pampering session? I love taking time to fake tan, apply my cleansers and moisturisers, paint my nails, face masks, foot masks etc. Foot masks are probably my favourite of them all! One of the girls brought a few with her to Marbella last year and ever since then I'm hooked!

What are your 5 favourite things to do when you're not working?

5 Tips for Staying Positive When You're Having a Bad Day

I'm really into reading mindful books and understand the power behind the mind and how it can influence us to do and become anything we want. I like thinking deep into certain situations and training my mind to be positive even when I'm having a bad day.

I mentioned on my insta-stories a few weeks back about how I've been reading this book called 'Find Calm by Anna Barnes' and how it's helped me to think differently in certain scenarios. I previously tried reading The Secret which most people swear by - I wanted to see what the hype was all about. To be honest, it didn't work for me. I didn't feel like it was that deep and didn't influence me to react differently to things. I think it's great for people who aren't perhaps into mindful reading and it's a great stepping stone, but I felt like it didn't make me think as deep as I hoped.

That's why I decided to download 'Find Calm' on my phone as it's full of quotes that I could relate to on a daily basis. It's not too heavy and it's been a great read for me. I wanted to share a few points that have helped me to stay positive whilst I'm having a bad day.

It's not the situations themselves, it's how we deal with them. This made me feel a bit more human as we all experience bad situations that sometimes can't be helped. It's how we deal with them that helps to bring up the positive vibes. It's easy for some of us to dwell over certain things but in hindsight, that's not helping the negative situation. We need to take a second to understand what has happened and how we're going to deal and overcome it.

Find 3 positives within a negative. It's good to experience negative situations as it's part of life and how we learn and develop as people. Sometimes we struggle to see the positives, but trying to find at least one can help to uplift your mind and thought process. With every negative, I try and replace it with at least 3 positives. I understand some situations are a lot harder than others and sometimes it can be extremely hard to think of any.

If a problem is fixable, then there is no need to worry. It it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. I relate a lot better to the first part as I've experienced bad situations that are fixable, yet I've sometimes thought it's the worst thing that could have happened. As it states, if something is fixable then there is no need to worry. It may take some time to fix, but you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and everything is going to be resolved in the end.

Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Sometimes we're our own worst enemy and can really beat ourselves up on things. We need to remember that when we find peace, it's because we've trained ourselves to react positively and being able to switch your mindset to think that way is extremely powerful and rewarding.

There is no greatness where there is not simplicity. You've probably heard countless amounts of times that 'nothing worth having comes easy, and something that comes easy isn't worth having'. If you overcome certain challenges, the greatness is extremely rewarding. You understand everything you've been through and what you've overcome to be in the situation you are today.

How do you stay positive when you're having a bad day?

What I Wore in Rhodes, Greece

I've recently returned home from Rhodes and already I'm suffering from those typical post-holiday blues. Me and Sam stayed on the Greek island for 8 days where we spent most of our time catching a tan and chilling out - it's the first time we've done anything like that! Our usual holidays consist of different excursions every single day but this time, we wanted to strip it back and totally relax.

As always, I managed to overpack my suitcase with lots of things I didn't wear nor use whilst I was away. But that's just a girls thing, right? I also packed lots of new clothes that I had delivered just before I went away and wanted to share my outfits with you.

During the day, I wanted to be more comfortable in what I wore as I hoped to catch a tan in the 27 degrees + heat. Usually in the UK, I wear t-shirt dresses and nothing really changed whilst I was on holiday. I ordered 3 different t-shirt dresses from Hype which were essential and often found myself throwing them on top of my bikinis when we visited the beaches.

My other alternative was this beach coverup from Pretty Little Thing and which unfortunately, is no longer on the website. On one of the days, me and Sam hired a car and drove into Rhodes new town where we stopped off to grab McDonalds. The new town was a bit more commercial so you can get away with being a typical Brit and walking around wearing next to nothing haha.

The evenings were a tricky one as our hotel restaurant was quite posh and had certain rules for what you could and couldn't wear for dinner. Every night Sam had to wear trousers so I jumped off the back of that and also went for a dress-ier attire. I loved wearing this faded leopard print body suit and faux suede skirt together and then paired it with some heeled sandals.

One night we decided to change our half board dinner to lunch in the hotel. When we arrived we grabbed a pizza in a restaurant just down the road from our hotel so we wanted to go back there for a proper dinner. I got sunburnt quite bad on this day so I also wore a lightweight blazer as I started to get quite cold in the evening.

And the most important of them all; swimwear. I was addicted to this new coral/pink bikini from Pretty Little Thing and found myself wearing it a few times over. I love wearing corals whilst I'm away on holiday as they really help to enhance my tan. One piece of advice; if you do buy this bikini, if it's wet, make sure you keep it away from any other clothes as the dye in mine ran and nearly ruined one of my dresses but thankfully, my Mum managed to wash it out before it permanently stained.

Another bikini I wore was from Figleaves. They have quite a lot of swimwear on their website so if you're going away, make sure you check them out. I've got quite a few bits from there now and I'm so happy with the quality of their stuff.

Breakfast with Dorina at The Shard & Wishlist

Words can't describe how grateful I am when opportunities like this come up. Being invited to places like The Shard makes me realise where I started from in blogging and where I am now. Never stop chasing your dreams as one day, they'll come true if you work hard enough opportunities will come your way.

I was invited to breakfast with Dorina to celebrate the launch of their latest summer collection and what better place to have it than, The Shard. Emma and myself made our way to London Bridge in time for breakfast at 9am. Once inside, we had a walk around meeting all of the Dorina team and lots of amazing influencers. We also spent a while going through the underwear and bikini collection, taking turns to pick out our favourites.

We sat around the table where there were boxes full of goodies from Dorina - we'd been totally spoilt! Whilst we were eating, we were all chatting around the table about adventures and experiences we had planned over the summer. There were a few influencers off to Bali and another had recently moved to LA so there were lots of exciting stuff going on.

After breakfast, Emma and I made our way to Westminster where we spent the majority of our afternoon sightseeing and gathering lots of content.

I'd love to say a huge thank you to Dorina for inviting me to have breakfast with you all at The Shard and I can't wait to fall in love with the next collection!

Here's a few of my top picks this summer from Dorina:
